Since then MFCGS has become the leader in Reproductive Medicine and Assisted Reproductive Technologies on the island of Crete. Fertility programme and techniques

The number of couples in their late 30s and 40s searching for pregnancy is constantly growing. Currently 25% of patients of the MFCGC are over 40. Nowadays, it is common to delay starting a family for a number of reasons: second relationships, career and educational demands, desire for financial stability, waiting for a stable relationship; however it is important to understand that fertility in women declines as their age advances, particularly from late 30s onwards.

MFCGC can help couples with a range of fertility issues using a wide variety of techniques. These include:

• Ovulation & Hormonal Disorders
  about 33% of infertility cases can be traced back to ovulation and hormonal problems.
• Fibroid Tumours
  Benign fibroid tumours in the uterus are extremely common in women over 30.
• Infertility over 40
  The likelihood of naturally occurring pregnancy is about 20-25% per month for a woman in her 20s or 30s, that possibility declines to 5 % for a woman in her early 40s.
• IVF treatment life cycle
  IVF (In Vitro Fertilisation) is the fertility treatment in which eggs are fertilised by sperm outside the woman’s womb.
• Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)
• Intracytoplasmic Morphologically Selected Sperm Injection (IMSI)
  IMSI is a method of spermatozoa selection based on high resolution microscopy which allows only the best sperm to be  injected.
• Cryopreservation of Gametes and Embryos
  Allows couples to have another chance to achieve a pregnancy at a greatly reduced cost compared to the cost of a fresh IVF cycle.
• Gametes donation, Donor egg IVF
  Sometimes the ovary loses the capacity to produce the essential oocytes for conception. In these cases, the Programme of Oocyte Donation, following the recommendations of the effective legislation, can resolve this problem.
• Male infertility

• Embryo cumulus cells co-culture
  This is a technique MFCGS have just introduced. Cumulus cells surround the woman’s eggs providing them with nutrients and growth factors and protecting them during their journey from the ovaries to the uterus.
• PGD / Genetics
  Preimlantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) is a state of the art technology with potential to increase your chance of a healthy pregnancy. PGD is used to identify genetic defects in embryos created through in vitro fertilisation (IVF) before transferring them into the uterus. PGD is recommended when embryos may be affected by a certain genetic condition and it is offered to fertile and infertile couples in conjunction with IVF.
• Sperm banking
  Sperm banking is the specialised Cryopreservation and cryogenic storage of sperm for future use in reproductive medicine.

The city of Chania

Chania's Old Town is considered the most beautiful urban district on the Greek island of Crete. It is next to the old Venetian harbour and is the matrix around which the whole urban area was developed.

Chania is directly connected to Athens and Thessalonica as well as to other Greek islands. From April to early November, there are many direct charter flights to Chania from the UK and other European countries.
