The team consists of experienced physicians and staff dedicated to providing the individualised treatment necessary to help you to achieve your dream of parenthood.

The philosophy at Hausken IVF is to offer a patient-centred care. The effectiveness of any care depends on finding the best options and treatment for each particular couple. Hausken work towards developing a plan that helps you find the treatment that works best for you.

The team

Led by Director Dr Jon Wegner Hausken, the team is uniquely qualified to treat complex infertility-related disorders. Dr Hausken is a highly skilled gynecologist and reproductive endocrinologist, and the former chief gynecologist of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology at Haugesund Regional Hospital. He is the author of numerous scientific publications and has a proven track record of success.

Fertility treatments

Scanhealth's Hausken fertility clinic offers a wide range of treatments. NOTE: Donor treatment is not available as this is not permitted in Norway - the clinic also has an age limit of 44 years.

IVF - In Vitro Fertilization

IVF treatment involves taking eggs from the woman’s ovaries and fertilising them in the laboratory with the partner’s sperm. The resulting viable embryo is transferred back to the uterus 2 – 5 days later.

ICSI - Intra Cystoplasmatic Sperm Injection

This may be used to treat severe male factor infertility resulting from one or more abnormalities such as:  low seminal volume, low motility, low sperm counts or high percentage of abnormal spermatozoa. Other conditions, such as failed attempts of fertilisation in vitro and immunological infertility, also warrant the utilisation of ICSI.

Frozen Embryo Transfer - Cryopreservation

Patients who have good quality embryos available after an in vitro fertilisation (IVF) procedure may choose to freeze, or cryo-preserve the embryos.  They can then be transferred to the uterus in a future natural cycle.

Azoospermia

In men with azoospermia it is possible to find and retrieve sperm cells for ICSI procedure in 50 – 70%.of cases.

Intrauterine Insemination - IUI

IUI is a procedure in which sperm are washed, concentrated and injected directly into the uterus. This increases the number of sperm in the fallopian tubes, where fertilisation takes place.

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome - PCOS

PCOS is a complex endocrine disorder associated with a long-term lack of ovulation (anovulation) and an excess of androgens. It is one of the most frequent causes of infertility.

Examinations

Hausken IVF has streamlined the process for diagnosing infertility to help couples better understand their condition and treatment options.  Once the cause has been determined, the clinic can begin designing a personalised treatment plan that is best suited for a couple’s individual needs to ensure the highest chances for success.

Laparoscopy

Examination of the pelvic region by using a small telescope called a laparoscope. The procedure is done with local anaesthetic and takes approximately 15 minutes.  This procedure is important when diagnosing infertility caused by endometriosis or tubal disease.

Hysteroscopy

A visual examination of the uterine cavity using a small telescope called a hysteroscope. The procedure is done without any form of anaesthetic and takes only 5 minutes. It is usually performed to examine possible causes for unsuccessful embryo implantation.

Well-being

At Scanhealth fertility clinic, the goal is for all patients to feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible.

The clinic is situated in the idyllic Norwegian coastal city of Haugesund and you are encouraged to spend some time there in connection with the IVF treatment. It is a unique chance to see the impressive Norwegian landscape with its famous, impressive fjords, and to let the fresh air reduce the stress and frustration you may be experiencing. Discount prices are available at the Radisson SAS Hotel, which is recently refurbished and which offers facilities like swimming pool and spa.
