The Fertility & Gynaecology Academy for IVF treatment in London

At The Fertility & Gynaecology Academy they appreciate that undertaking infertility diagnosis and treatment can be extremely stressful due to the inherent emotions and financial cost involved. At the Academy they offer not only the most advanced techniques available in assisted conception, but also personalised direct support from their consultants. They ensure that every patient feels educated, comfortable and fully supported throughout their treatment.

Infertility and assisted reproduction treatments available in London

The Fertility & Gynaecology Academy offers a comprehensive set of treatments for male and female infertility problems. Their consultants will thoroughly investigate your circumstances and medical history before advising you on the most appropriate fertility treatment.

  • IVF / ICSI - In-Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) is a procedure that involves surgical removal of an egg from the woman’s ovaries and fertilising it with sperm in the laboratory. ICSI is a technique to fertilise an egg by micro-injecting sperm that would otherwise not be able to achieve fertilisation.

  • Intra-uterine insemination (IUI) - in this procedure, the semen sample is washed and prepared for injection into the womb using a specially designed ultra-thin catheter. The catheter places the sperm near the uterine entrance of each Fallopian tube, thereby providing it a shorter distance to swim to reach the eggs.

  • Ovulation induction - recommended for women who have an irregular menstrual cycle. With this technique, cycle monitoring is undertaken through hormone assessments and ultrasound scans.

  • Surgical sperm aspiration (PESA / TESA) - surgical sperm retrieval is a treatment recommended for men with azoospermia condition when there is blockage of the tube for sperm passage or absence of sperm in ejaculation.

  • Blastocyst transfer - the success rate of IVF and ICSI treatments are improved by delaying the embryo transfer until 5-6 days after egg collection. Such an embryo that has developed 5-6 days after fertilisation is called a blastocyst.

  • Genetic testing - if you have a family history of chromosome problems, pre-implantation genetic testing (PGD) of embryos can detect any inherited abnormalities.

  • Frozen embryo replacement (FER) - couples who undergo in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) or intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) may produce a number of unused embryos, which can be frozen and stored so that you may use them in a future cycle without having the need to undergo egg collection.

  • Egg freezing - as women become older, their chances of getting pregnant begin to decrease. This decline starts after the mid-thirties and becomes even more pronounced over the age of 40. Freezing your eggs at a stage in your life when the ovaries are capable of producing high quality eggs is therefore a sensible option for fertility treatment in future years.

  • Sperm freezing - The Fertility & Gynaecology Academy offers a comprehensive sperm freezing service. Sperm are frozen in a special medium to protect them from damage during the freeze-thaw process.

  • Egg donation & egg sharing - egg donation and egg sharing is offered to women who are having fertility problems, experiencing premature menopause or undergoing radiotherapy or chemotherapy treatments. It also offers a solution to women who are carriers of genetic disorders and don’t want to pass the condition to their baby.

  • Surrogacy - this is the act of one woman bearing a child for another. The woman bearing the child is known as the surrogate host mother while the woman who receives the baby is the commissioning mother.
