Experts in keyhole surgery for hernia repair

In both cases a laparoscope is inserted through a small incision to view the hernia, the protruding contents are pushed back and a sheet of mesh is put over the defect to repair and strengthen it. A TAPP repair is carried out from within the abdomen and a TEP repair is performed within the layers of the abdominal wall.
Providing open surgery for hernia repair
Sometimes the surgeon will recommend that it is better to repair a hernia through a 5-10cm incision, rather than using a laparoscope. This is the preferred technique for incisional hernias and some inguinal hernias.
