Elbow and shoulder treatment at the London Orthopaedic Clinic

Mr Brian Cohen is the surgical lead and Dr Ralph Rogers specialises in soft tissue and the non-surgical treatment of sports injuries. Mr Cohen specialises in arthroscopic procedures for all shoulder problems and Dr Ralph Rogers uses ultrasound guided techniques for tennis elbow treatment and tendonitis treatment.

Acromioclavicular joint injuries

The joint between the outer end of the collar bone (clavicle) and shoulder blade (scapula) is called the acromioclavicular joint. The joint can be injured by a fall on to the point of the shoulder that can disrupt the joint and tear the ligaments which hold the joint in place. Read more about the treatment of acromioclavicular joint injuries.

Arthritis of the shoulder

Frozen shoulder treatment

Shoulder dislocations

Subacromial impingement

The rotator cuff consists of four tendons that arise from muscles attached to the scapula (shoulder blade). The function of the cuff is to allow shoulder movement. Arthrosopic subacromial decompression

This shoulder surgery is performed by keyhole surgery to increase he amount of space above the rotator cuff tendons to allow the tendons to pass freely beneath the bone of the front part of the shoulder blade as the arm is raised. Read more about arthrosopic subacromial decompression. 

Shoulder arthroscopy

Arthroscopy, commonly known as ‘keyhole surgery’, involves the insertion of a special telescope with a camera known as an arthroscope into the shoulder joint. Usually only two or three 5mm puncture wounds are required avoiding large wounds and scars. Read more about the shoulder arthroscopy. 

Tennis elbow

Tennis elbow, also known as lateral epicondylitis, is due to small tears in a tendon at its attachment to the bone on the outer side of the elbow.
