King’s College Hospital is a specialist centre for adult Bone Marrow Transplantation (BMT) and granulocyte harvesting (for severely neutropenic patients), covering adult and adolescent services and paediatric haematology. It is the specialist centre for South-East London and the South-East Thames region for bone marrow transplants. The centre performs more than 120 autologous, allogeneic and unrelated bone marrow transplants each year.
King’s College Hospital is one of London’s most prestigious teaching hospitals, with a history of clinical excellence dating back to 1840. The Private Patient Service is housed in the Guthrie Wing. Called King’s International, it offers private patients the highest standards of clinical and customer care, whether they are from the UK or overseas (residents of more than 50 countries were treated last year).

Supporting team
A designated General Manager and a Clinical Director lead a highly commended nursing team and pharmacy team dedicated to patient safety and care. Staff keep their clinical skills continuously updated, while ensuring customer service standards are met through the ‘King’s behaviour standards’ programme. All consultants work in the National Health Service (NHS), so their clinical practice is also up to date.
King's international private patients services
The service provides excellent clinical support facilities including:
-
A private outpatient suite with five consulting rooms
-
21 single-bed rooms
-
A two-bed high dependency unit
-
A day room
-
Some visitor parking outside the Guthrie Wing or main car park
The colour-coordinated rooms are pleasantly furnished, many with their own shower or bath. All rooms have a remote-controlled television, a direct dial telephone and a safe for valuables. Accommodation for a relative in the room can sometimes be arranged on request.
As well as excellent nursing care, the Clinic offers a special catering service to meet individual requirements and a multi-faith chaplaincy service for your spiritual needs. Four in 10 of patients are from overseas so all staff have a high level of cultural awareness.
