What a professional and friendly team at Veincentre Stoke on Trent. I was a bit anxious that the treatment would actually work, as I have read many reviews on other websites where people were complaining that they had spent thousands and there was no change/improvement. I had varicose veins on my right leg which prevented me running/training in the gym unless I was wearing trousers. Following the treatment I am back in my shorts and even my kids said 'Wow Dad' your legs are back to normal :)

The procedure was explained in detail to me prior to and during the treatment and this made me feel calm and relaxed. The treatment was relatively pain free. I attended a follow up appointment, 8 weeks later and because the initial treatment had been very successful, no further treatment was required. I was very satisfied with the whole procedure and outcome and thank Dr Wright and his Nurse Assistant for their care .

This was an excellent service from beginning to end with friendly staff and expert diagnosis with on the spot immediate treatment offered which I agreed to - I was able to watch on the ultrasound screen as the treatment took place with the consultant explaining each step of the procedure which gave me confidence. Excellent aftercare with a follow up call the next day . With lockdown my final appointment has just taken place with top up treatment and I now have two lovely legs back!

Had my first treatment in Nov 2019. Extremely painful at the time and became more painful after a week and remained sensitive for several weeks. However, the results were very good. When I returned recently for follow up foam injections nurse Helen did them. Helen was very efficient and performed the treatment quickly and painlessly and made me more relaxed. After a couple of days the results are looking good and I only had slight discomfort a couple of hours later and was completely pain free by the next morning. In summary the treatment is expensive and can be very painful but the results are good.

For years now I've had large unattractive varicose veins in both legs. I'd been thinking about getting them treated over and over again but the cost had put me off every time. After months of googling I eventually decided to go with the Veincentre in Stoke.
From the first contact I felt confident that this was a very professional experienced surgery.
The consultation was informative and explained exactly what would be carried out.
The surgery was carried out in a friendly relaxed atmosphere and I felt at ease with good friendly conversation throughout. Everything was explained and I could actually watch what was being done.
I did have a little discomfort for a week or so, but that was to be expected.
Six weeks later and I feel it has been a great success, I actually took photos before the surgery to compare with now. There is no visual signs of the veins anymore.
To conclude I wish I hadn't waited so long to get the veins treated.
Yes it is alot of money, but I'm happy with the result and can only highly recommended Dr West and his team

I have suffered from Varicose Eczema on my low legs for some time and it was getting worse, recent Doctors visits recommended I get specialist from a Varicose Vein Consultant. After looking at a good deal of background info on the subject and reading several resumes I got in touch with the Veincentre. From the outset the quality of care has been excellent and my initial assessment by Dr West was very informative, reassuring and presented in a way that was easy for me to understand. All went well on the day of the treatment and my initial worries were soon dispelled by Dr West and his great team.
The first couple of weeks were quite difficult as I had both legs done so mobility a little impaired however this soon improved. Gradually the visible bruising and swelling has disappeared and my eczema has really improved. Still some numbness in lower legs and ankles but getting more feeling by the day. All good, wish I had had this done years ago! Would have given a 5 on outcome of treatment but as still have some numbness left it at 4 ????
Great Team, hugely knowledgable and a friendly bunch as well.

I chose to attend Veincentre as I wanted treatment for my varicose veins but didn't have the capacity to take time off work. I was able to complete my treatment programme in three visits. I experienced little disruption to my daily routine. Veincentre, Stoke, was able to offer a relaxing environment where there was opportunity to ask questions throughout, while maintaining a professional clinical environment.

I was provided with post treatment support links to ensure I had a point of contact if I had any problems.

The fee structure was transparent and I was fully aware of costs before attending the clinic

I would recommend this service to anyone considering EVLA.

My GP sent me to hospital to see a vascular consultant regarding pain and discolouration of me left foot and leg.The results of the scans disclosed a vein needed to be tied off and stripped out but he advised that he would not be able to operate. This was due to not being able to obtain an anaesthetist because of an earlier health problem. I thought I would have to suffer with the risk of further problems and pain arising in the future.Then I was introduced to Dr David West who felt that he could relieve the pain and increase my walking ability. At the interview I was put at ease and had the procedure fully explained to me.This was followed later with the laser and injections treatment when Dr West explained exactly what he was doing, step by step, and he and the staff were very kind caring and reassuring. The pain has now gone and my walking ability has greatly improved. My grateful thanks go to Dr West and his team and I would recommend the Veincentre without reservation to anyone with vein problems.

I am really happy with the advice and Dr West's referral for my treatment. I may have underestimated the treatment and initial short term side effects a little but I am quite physically active so I felt restricted and in discomfort for around 3-4 weeks. I did experience some level of pressure, discomfort and lymphatic build up above the treated area but felt that this was most likely caused by the tightness of the elastic at the top of the surgical compression stocking. I sought advice from the clinic and was very happy with the reassurance I was given. The fluid also gradually disappeared after around 3/4 weeks.

I'm pleased to say at my 6 week follow up consultation, I now only feel a very small amount of tenderness to the touch and I do not require any further injections. I am really pleased with the consultations, service, treatment and after care I received.

Any fears I had were listened to and put to rest. On the day of the treatment, I was treated with great care and kindness. I felt totally at ease throughout the procedure and the aftercare was explained carefully. I felt I was fully informed about what I should expect and what I needed to do to help myself. My condition was causing swelling, heaviness and ulceration; not to mention the fact my leg was seriously not pretty! All that has gone now and I feel like I have a new leg. Cosmetically, my leg looks so much better already and I can look forward to further improvements over the coming months.

I wrestled with whether or not to have my veins treated but so glad I did. Although not horrific clearly varicose veins don’t get any better, so after spending over 30 years on my feet as a nurse and midwife, I decided to go for it! The EVLA was utterly painless! Very ‘achy’ for a few days after and some bruising but this didn’t stop me doing anything and I still went to work as usual. I had sclerotherapy just 4 weeks later which was - again - completely painless (well maybe a bit of stinging!) The results so far are great. The veins are virtually invisible after a pretty short period of time. The care I received from David and from Helen (super duper nurse!) was superb. Friendly yet so professional. I enjoyed the chats about dogs, TPO’s, ELO and local chit chat! Both on a personal level and a professional level I would have absolute no hesitation in recommending David, Deborah and the rest of the team. Thank you!

After researching many clinics I was so happy to find Vein centre. The staff are friendly and happy to answer any questions you have. After meeting my doctor (Dr Krishnan) on my consultation I new I had gone to the right place. Everything was explained well and I was booked in for treatment within a couple of weeks!

I was nervous on the day, I’m not good with needles. The Dr and nurse where amazing, yes it did hurt but it was bearable. I felt some discomfort after for around a week but was soon back to my normal self. After taking the stocking off a week after treatment I could already see how amazing my legs looked. The veins had reduced massively and the heavy tired feeling in my legs was gone. I’ve just had my follow up appointment and further foam injections to reduce the cosmetic look off the vein, they was barley visible.

So overall I’m over the moon, I’m so happy I had them done.

I feel like I have a new pair of legs, I can run around with my children without discomfort or tiredness in my legs. I can’t wait for next summer to wear a pair of shorts for the first time in years!!

The initial consultation was very thorough in determing the cause of varicose veins in both my legs. I was told in great detail about the treatments I needed to eradicate the problems with my legs and the intended benefits and potential risks. I had the treatments in December 2017, the procedure was a little uncomfortable but completed confidently by Dr David West and his lovely assistant(sorry can't remember her name). I did have some discomfort for about 2 weeks after the treatment but this can be expected.. It has now been 10 months since I had this treatment and the results are brilliant, in my left leg there is one small mark which I think will disappear and my right leg has a longer mark which does seem to be fading gradually. In all my legs are 90% better, I had used to have cramps in my legs but I haven't had any since having this done. I would recommend Velncentre to friends.

The treatment itself was very straightforward and there was minimal discomfort afterwards which lasted just a couple of weeks. Was able to return to work the next day with no problems at all. Delighted with the results. Would definitely recommend this service to anyone who needs similar treatment.

Dr West and Helen were great, most caring and helpful. Actual treatment was slightly uncomfortable but well worth it. Results are great so far, even a patch of thread veins that have been present for over 40 years have gone! Area where varicose vein was is stained brown but this is still fading and even so looks far better than before the treatment. Haven’t worn skirts/ dresses for years as embarrassed but will be happy to do so now.

I thought about having my legs sorted out for a long time. In the end it was a radio advert and a newspaper article about Veincentre that convinced me to phone and book an appointment.

Staff on the telephone were lovely.

My first appointment was very reassuring. I saw Helen who explained the treatment I needed.

I returned a couple of weeks later for the main part of the procedure. Dr West was charming and even though I was quite nervous the treatment was soon complete. I had to wear compression stockings for a week. When I removed them I was really pleased to rediscover my knee!

I returned about 4 weeks later for a tidy up. Afterwards I had to wear a stocking for another week.

All treatment was fully explained before and during treatment, and there were lots of emails to address any concerns I might have.

I have already recommended the clinic to several of my friends.

If like me you hate your veins I can only say I wish I had them treated years ago!

I liked that the fee's were fixed and transparent. The pre-procedure information booklet was clear and all of my questions were answered quickly by email or telephone at all times.



The Stoke clinic was comfortable and the staff were very professional and helpful throughout.



The EVLA procedure was a little uncomfortable, but not too bad and the foam sclerotherapy follow up was painless.



Wearing compression stockings for a week was uncomfortable at times, especially when my ankles swelled. It took several months for the results to take effect. The varicose veins slowly started to dissolve and leave dark areas around my legs, but over the months these are disappearing.



Now have a huge improvement on how my legs look and confidence to wear shorts again.



Its been a year since the treatment and so far, the varicose veins have not returned.

Would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending The Vein Centre, Stoke. I had no discomfort during the procedure and only slightly uncomfortable for a couple of days after but nothing like I expected. I did not need any pain relief at all. I am so happy that I have had this done and regret not doing it sooner. Still have slight brown marking around the area but Dr. West said this would fade with time. Whatever, it is nowhere near as unsightly as before so I can live with the brown mark. Also, have to sing the praises of Dr. West and his nurse, Helen. I felt so relaxed and calm in their hands and they made sure I knew exactly what was happening at all times.

They were friendly, professional and so pleasant.

I have had in my opinion unsightly legs since my mid twenties, brought on I think by pregnancy. I had my veins treated by the NHS when I was about 32 but I was never satisfied with the result. The treatment done under general anaesthetic was afterwards very pain full. Over the years my legs had got worse with my confidence also declining. Last year I just decided to google various veins and treatment and found the Vein Centre that was actually on my door step. I read the reviews and was pleased with what I had seen. I considered the cost and thought that if the treatment was successful I could continue my life with so much more confidence. I also considered the risk of complications but decided that it would all be worth it.

In October 2016 I had EVLA to both of my legs. I found the procedure to be a little uncomfortable for a short time. I was told that on day five after treatment my legs could become a little sore and this was the case. However it was mild discomfort and it didn’t’ prevent me from doing my every day activities or even going to the gym.On removal of the dreaded stockings which you need to wear continually for one week I noticed that the lumpy veins that I did have had gone although I still had a lot of reticular veins. These veins I believe to be healthy veins but are very close to the surface of the skin. To me they made my leg look like a map of Staffordshire. Six weeks later I attended the clinic again to have some foam sclerotherapy. This I found to be a little uncomfortable at times but can only be expected when you are having a needle injected into your skin many times. You then have to wear the dreaded stockings for a further week. These stockings although I have gone on about them are actually far better than the ones provided by the NHS years ago. They are skin coloured and they don’t cover your toes which makes for wearing them in bed a more comfortable experience. On removal of my stockings I did have quite a lot of bruising that had disappeared six weeks later. Unfortunately My leg didn’t look much different then as I still had the thread veins and reticular veins. Over the months that followed they did very slowly fade. Early months I thought that they were not going to go but by ten or eleven months most had gone. I cannot stress how important it is to be patient as this is not a quick fix for everyone. Some like myself have veins that are not dissolved as quickly as others. It is now twelve months since my treatment and I have just returned to have a little more foam sclerotherapy on my remaining reticular veins.

I am very happy with results so far and for anyone considering the treatment I would definitely recommend it.

The Centre is very pleasant and Dr West and Helen are very pleasant, honest people that are good at what they do.

I have given four stars for outcome of treatment as my treatment results are on going, but with patience i’m Confident that five stars will be achieved.

After the initial procedure I knew I could contact the centre at any point should I have had concerns but everything went well and I returned recently for my check-up. I required a few more injections and once again I couldn't have been treated more kindly or respectfully. The initial pain was minimal with just a few aches in the days after the first treatment but more than worth it. I have already recommended the procedure to a friend and a family member.

After researching the health issues associated with untreated Varicose Veins and with knowledge of the distress they caused to a family member, I decided that it was important for me to seek medical advice and investigate fully the cost of private consultation and treatment rather than risk a protracted process via the NHS and possible invasive surgery.

I found that the information provided via the website was clear and the prices were fully explained and transparent. I knew exactly from the first consultation what I would pay and when I compared the Veincentre with other private clinics I also found that they represented great value.

From that point everything went like clockwork and from consultation to final review I felt that I had been treated like a valued and respected customer/person. Whilst no treatment is totally pain free I certainly did not feel at any time that I wanted the procedure to stop and I do not have a high pain threshold . I did in fact enjoy the company of Dr West and Helen and I thank them and all the team for making me feel so relaxed.

Researched on internet and found Vein Centre, from initial appointment through to 2 sessions of treatment the experience was faultless.

It is probably less stressful than dentist appointment!

Dr West is clearly a very professional and knowledgeable surgeon, but he has a nice relaxed dry sense of humour that takes the stress out of the treatment.

Practice Nurse Helen is an absolute star who instantly puts you at ease, she is a credit to the clinic.

I experienced some aching in the treated veins for 2 weeks but no discomfort thereafter .

The veins are lumpy to the touch after 6 weeks but are virtually impossible to see .I was informed that the veins would naturally dissolve into the body over time .

A good result overall . All staff helpful and eager to please .

Went back on Wednesday had 2 more foam parts done on both legs and had thread veins injected. My thread veins disappeared just bruised but that will go.

Overall treatment did not hurt very slightly uncomfortable but there are a lot of injections so should expect some uncomfort.

All staff at the vein centre were friendly, helpful, relaxing and caring.

I paid 2695 which is a lot when I think it's veins but I know I will feel a lot more confident so definitely worth it for me.

The Veincentre Stoke-on-Trent exceeded my expectation in terms of service and satisfaction. The staff were very attentive and professional from the reception and administrative staff right through to Dr West and Helen the Treatment Nurse. After the first treatment I noticed an 85% improvement within a week of taking off the compression stocking. Once the bruising had subsided I was able to wear a pair of normal length shorts again for the first time in a long while. The soreness was almost exactly as predicted and I stuck rigidly to the stocking regime, despite the fact that they were pretty hot under trousers in a heatwave. Only four weeks after treatment I completed a 110 km walk in Lapland over 7 days carrying 13kg in a rucksack - no problems. I am delegated with the results and the care at Veincentre.

Varicose veins in my left leg had been unsightly for some years but this did not trouble me until suddenly without any sensation one bled profusely and took some stopping. Worried that if this had happened in my sleep its consequences could have been very serious I sought medical advice. In summary the timetable was as follows : GP November 2015, NHS vascular surgeon 6 weeks later, NHS Doppler scan 4 weeks later. Review of Doppler findings with vascular surgeon towards the end of February 2016. Yes it required surgery and was so bad that this would have to be done under general anesthetic and involve a stay in hospital. My concerns over another bleed were naturally heightened and these were not allayed by the knowledge that the NHS waiting list was a minimum of a further 5 months. I searched the web and came across the Veincentre. I liked what I read and made an appointment for a consultation followed by immediate treatment. From the moment I stepped into the Stoke Veincentre I was impressed; efficient, professional; and friendly. I especially like the way that the Doppler ultrasound imaging is used there and then (not a separate Department). I was fascinated to watch the procedure on the imaging screen and be talked through every aspect. In particular I was reassured by the way that all procedures (injections and insertion of the tiny optical fibre) were all conducted whilst being imaged. It took less than 90 minutes from walking into the Veincentre to walking out again with the treatment completed. 5 weeks later I went to the Veincentre for a follow up consultation which confirmed all was well and no further treatment was necessary. I am extremely satisfied with the outcome and value for money and cannot understand why the NHS does not follow the Veincentre approach if they wish to reduce waiting times and costs. .

Having undertaken research into providers of varicose vein treatment, I chose Dr West and the Veincentre as a result of his extensive knowledge and experience in this field and because they specialise only in vein treatment.

From the start Dr West and his staff were friendly, efficient and extremely professional, explaining the treatment options in simple terms with no jargon. There is no pressure from them to proceed with treatment.

I booked immediately as Dr West answered all my questions and I felt very comfortable in the environment and had the treatment 2 weeks later.

I had EVLT in both legs which took an hour. Dr West and the nurses chat to you throughout which made the time pass really quickly and made me relax, as I was nervous. The injections are uncomfortable, but last for seconds, the treatment itself is virtually painless, nothing like as bad as you imagine it will be.

Following the treatment I had no issues at all and didn't need any painkillers, there was a slight pulling sensation in my legs, but nothing more and hardly any bruising.

In the six weeks to my follow up, which was yesterday, my prominent veins have either improved considerably or disappeared and I required a small amount of foam sclerotherapy, which Dr West administered in 5 minutes and it didn't hurt at all.

I would highly recommend Dr West and the Veincentre to anyone considering vein treatment. Having compared notes with friends who have had the same treatment elsewhere, my experience, recovery and outcome has been much better than theirs.

I had an unsightly varicose vein running down the inside of my leg from mid thigh to mid calf and, as I had recently lost weight, I wanted it sorted out so that I could happily wear skirts and shorts again.

As soon as I arrived for my initial consultation, I felt at ease. Everyone who works at the Veincentre is very friendly and makes the whole experience as comfortable as possible, even down to what music you would like to listen to throughout the procedure!

The treatment itself was nowhere near as uncomfortable as I imagined it would be. The only slight pain I felt literally lasted a second or two. Afterwards, I was able to go home and carry on as normal with only a couple of conditions ~ keep the stocking on for a week and no long haul flights for 4 weeks. I had some bruising and tenderness to my leg for a while, but nothing too bad.

My follow up consultation included a further scan which showed that no more treatment was required.

I would highly recommend this treatment and the Veincentre to anyone considering treatment to remove varicose veins.

I have had varicose vein surgery in the past which was painful and slow to heal. I was horrified by the number of incisions and cuts on my legs and the surgical stocking were difficult to put on and very uncomfortable to wear. Having read good reviews about laser treatment for varicose veins I decided tp give it a try. The experience could not have more different. The consultation was relaxed and friendly. The ultra sound is very impressive with clear sight of the troublesome veins and made the treatment accurate and quite quick. The laser treatment is uncomfortable but thanks anesthetic in the veins not painful. For about 3 days after the treatment my inner thighs felt as if I had pulled a muscle but I did not need pain killers. The elasticated stockings were a good fit and not uncomfortable to wear. Everything is explained and plenty of time given to discuss the procedures and ask any questions. It was pleasing to have some small thread veins treated at the third and final visit to the clinic. This is a much longer procedure than the surgical method and you do need to be patient and trust the outcome will be worth it in the long run. There is minimal disruption to normal daily life and I am pleased that I decided to have this laser treatment on my varicose veins done at the Stoke on Trent clinic.

I have had a phobia about needles,hospitals etc for years.Finally after years of embarressment and more recently extreme discomfort in my leg,with encouragement I bit the bullet and sought treatment.How I wish I had done it sooner.Consultation in the morning,EVLA in the afternoon.I was put at ease immediately and the procedure was dealt with quickly.6 weeks or so later I returned for scelotherapy.All the discomfort I had before has gone and I am trying to be patient to see the end results although my calf has drastically improved in appearance already.Can't believe I have had a medical procedure done without fainting or tears-i really was that bad before.If you feel that way all I can say is just go for it.Dr West and his staff really do their best to put you at ease and my treatment was over in under half an hour.

After much research and debating whether to have surgery I finally took the plunge underwent EVLA treatment at the vein centre Stoke on Trent clinic. I am so glad that I did! Staff including reception, nurses and Dr West himself were very friendly and professional. I received a full explanation of the two part procedure, which was carried out with minimal discomfort. I enjoy competitive sports; running, cycling and swimming. Sadly, over several years I started to develop a feeling of 'tightness' in my left leg accompanied with a heavy feeling in the leg whilst running. I was physically ok whilst swimming but I did feel slightly embarrassed by a bulbous vein! Of greater concern was the dry, itchy skin following the line of this vein.
I did my research and finally arrived at the clinic run by Dr David West. The main laser procedure was fine. Definitely less than a trip to the dentist and actually, I suspect the only pain was that felt by the Dr at my choice of music! I didn't like the thought of wearing a stocking, but it was fine! I was on my bike the next day and jogging soon after. Very quickly, my symptoms, and the vein disappeared! I did have a little bruising ...but so minor! The second part of the procedure was (for me) even more simple. A couple of painless injections, job done. But my friends do take the .. Joke about my stocking!
In summary, for the patient this is a very simple procedure. And it works!
(Best not tell your mates about the stocking bit)

Had ugly vein in one leg which I previously had surgically stripped around 20 years ago but it had come back. I did quite a bit of research and visited one other clinic before deciding to go to Dr David West - so if you are reading this because you are trying to choose a provider then let me assure you that you could not find better than the Vein Centre. The procedure is less uncomfortable than a trip to the dentist and I can say that I experienced no pain during or afterwards. Manage your own expectations and expect bruising, and understand it is a two-part procedure - allow yourself a full 10-12 weeks to see the results you hope for. Do as advised, and wear the compression stocking. Laser surgery s incomparable to the surgical alternative - which was horrid. Laser treatment is far superior - and my results are brilliant - it is exactly 2 months since my treatment started - and I can't help looking at the results and feeling thrilled to be rid of unsightly veins and wearing skirts and dresses again with confidence. Just do it!

Couldn't believe what i saw. veins on second treatment disappeared before my eyes. Injections were painless, would recommend the treatment, it is simple and quick. Extremely good value. I will be wearing a skirt next summer which I don't normally because the blue lumpy veins have GONE!
