Description

  • Many cancer drugs are denied on the NHS even though they have been proven effective. This may be because they await approval by NICE, or NICE has deemed them not ´cost effective´.  mycancerdrugs is an inexpensive policy that gives you access to advanced cancer drugs licensed but not available on the NHS.
  • It is not a comprehensive private medical insurance policy.
  • There is a £50,000 life benefit for advanced cancer drugs for each person covered.
  

For

  • Individuals living in England, Scotland and Wales
  • Aged 18 to 64
  • Smokers charged double
 

Not for

  • People with cancer
  • People who have had cancer
  • People who are on a medically supervised health screening or review programme because they are considered to be at a higher risk of developing cancer
  • People who have a parent or sibling who developed or died from cancer before the age of 60
  • People aged 65 or older
  

Benefits

  • Lifetime cover benefit £ 50000
  • For advanced cancer drugs approved by EMEA
  • Where the NHS declines to administer the drug, will fund all the costs directly associated with administering the drug in the private sector
  • Drug list changes as new ones approved
  • Approved drugs listed at mycancerdrugs.org.uk
  • Drugs must be prescribed by consultant in charge of your cancer treatment
  • Premium based on age
  

Not covered

90 day deferment period to prevent people joining the scheme with a foreknowledge of cancer i.e. does not cover the treatment of cancers that arise within the first 90 days
  

Options

  • Children can be covered on an adults policy
