Description 

Short term income protection should illness or injury prevent you working or you become unemployed.

 

For

  • Aged 18 to 64

  • Employees and the self employed and contract workers
     

Maximum amount payable

  • 50% of gross monthly income

  • £1000 a month

  • Whichever is the lesser

 

Basis of cover

  • Normal occupation
  • Benefit paid for up to 12 months

Not covered

  • Pre-existing medical conditions

  • Attempted suicide or self-inflicted injuries

  • Backache and related conditions, including back injuries, which are not supported by medical evidence

  • A psychiatric illness or mental disorder – including depression, grief when someone has died, stress, or stress-related conditions – which is not diagnosed by a consultant who is a member or the Royal College of Psychiatrists and is recognised by that organisation as being a consultant
