Description

Pays out a guaranteed cash sum if you are diagnosed with a specified critical illness and then survive for at least 14 days

Age

16 to 59 (54 if premium protection option taken)

Maximum amount payable

£500,000 on all CI policies with all insurers

  • Alzheimer's Disease (before age 60)
  • Aorta graft surgery
  • Benign brain tumour
  • Blindness
  • Cancer
  • Coma
  • Coronary artery by-pass grafts
  • Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease
  • Deafness
  • Heart attack
  • Heart valve replacement or repair
  • HIV caught from physical assault
  • HIV caught from blood transfusion
  • HIV caught at work
  • Kidney failure
  • Loss of hands or feet
  • Loss of independent existence
  • Loss of speech
  • Major organ transplant
  • Motor neurone disease
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Paralysis of limbs
  • Parkinson's Disease (before age 60)
  • Pre-senile dementia
  • Stroke
  • Third degree burns.
  • Total permanent disablement (before age 60)
  • Traumatic head injury

  • Bacterial Meningitis

Illnesses for which Children are not covered

  • Alzheimer's Disease
  • HIV resulting from physical assault
  • HIV from blood transfusion
  • HIV caught at work
  • Loss of independent existence
  • Parkinson's Disease
  • Pre-senile dementia
  • Total permanent disablement

Not covered

  • Any illness not specified

Period of cover

  • Minimum one year
  • Maximum 25 years
  • Cover ends at age 65
