Bupa lung cancer case study - Sean Smith

One in three of us will at some point in our lives develop cancer. Lung cancer is the most common form of the disease in both men and women in the UK, where over 37,000 people are diagnosed with it every year.

When Sean Smith, a 41 year old mortgage broker from Kingswinford, West Midlands, discovered he had terminal lung cancer in April this year, he and his family were inevitably distraught. At such a difficult time, Sean was relieved that his financial worries could be taken care off, thanks to his critical illness policy from Bupa.

Sean commented: "Being a mortgage broker, I have always understood the importance of taking out insurance. I chose Bupa for my critical illness policy because of their excellent reputation in the market - when it comes to my health, I didn't want to cut corners."

Being covered by Bupa's critical illness policy, Sean was able to make his claim straight away.

"I was really impressed at how quickly my claim was dealt with. Despite it being a very difficult time for me, it gave me peace of mind knowing that all the medical bills would be taken care of without any hassle.

"With the policy I had, all my medical costs have been covered including consultants' fees, hospital charges and the on-going treatment I have been receiving. With the money I have received, any financial worries have been put at ease and we can concentrate on making the most out of life. You just can't put a price on that."
