Vocal Fold bowing
Causes
Aging of the larynx leading to bowing of vocal folds, ie incomplete closure of the vocal folds leading to air escaping between the incomplete closure of the vocal folds and resulting in a weak, hoarse voice quality.
Symptoms
A gradual decline in the quality of the voice resulting in a breathy voice quality where durability has also reduced.
Treatment
Therapy will focus on maintaining the maximum vocal fold closure and voice quality without harming the voice.
