Non-surgical face-lifts differ from their surgical alternatives by
rejuvenating the skin to reverse the effects of ageing, rather than
surgical and invasive intervention to manipulate the skin in its
existing aged condition. Rejuvenation is not only an excellent
alternative to surgery but also highly recommended as a first step to
reversing the ageing process and delaying the need for cosmetic surgery.
By improving the quality of the skin the increased
tone and elasticity will restore a more youthful silhouette and will
provide a resistance to wrinkles and lines. The natural radiance of
rejuvenated skin, free of the ravages of age, sun and a hostile
environment will reveal a healthy vitality that cannot be achieved by
surgery.
Ageing is caused by internal (intrinsic or
chronological) and external (extrinsic or environmental) factors.
Whatever the cause, ageing results in the diminished production of
collagen which is the main supporting protein of the skin, and the break
down of the elastin fibres which give the skin its flexibility. Ageing
is also accompanied by a decline in the activity of the sebaceous glands
reducing the skins ability to retain moisture, which in turn leads to a
reduction in the suppleness of the skin.
Skin rejuvenation improves the quality of the
skin by increasing the production of elastin and collagen and restoring
the moisture content of the skin. This improvement in quality, coupled
with the restoration of the skin to a pre environmentally damaged state
removes and reverses many of the visible effects of ageing.
Because the treatments are focused on improving
skin quality each program of treatments will be specific to an
individual’s needs and the initial condition of their skin. A treatment
program would usually comprise one or more of the following treatments:-
-
Microdermabrasion
This is a gentle
exfoliation of the outer layer of the skin. It leaves the skin smooth,
soft and radiant and is an excellent method of rejuvenating coarse sun
damaged skin and can remove superficial scarring. Microdermabrasion
stimulates the skin to naturally increase its production of collagen and
elastin and after a program of treatments the skin will be thicker,
stronger and more elastic. The treatment is very quick and most clients
enjoy the experience. There is usually no recovery time required after
the treatment.
-
Peels
Peels achieve rapid removal
of old cells in all layers of the skin using specific acids. A peel will
immediately cause the skin to feel soft and smooth and work to cause
immediate turnover of the skin cells. Peels are an excellent method of
rejuvenating coarse sun damaged skin and will cause the skin to become
strong, thick and elastic. The non-ablative peels used by SkinGenesis
use a combination of salicylic, lactic and citric acids that penetrate
deep into the skin. The peels are very quick to perform and very safe
enabling clients to immediately continue with their business and social
commitments. The sensation of a peel is akin to a warm prickling feeling
that most clients find moderately comfortable. These should not be
confused with ablative peels which will result in some downtime.
-
Intense Pulsed Light
IPL (Intense
Pulsed Light) is a high energy light therapy that reacts with
pigmentation and blood in the skin. IPL treatments are sometimes
referred to as photo rejuvenation. It is the treatment of choice for
removing blemishes that result from sun damage.
-
Mesotherapy
Mesotherapy is a
technique to reintroduce nutrients, amino acids, minerals and other
ingredients naturally found in the skin back into skin to restore its
biochemical makeup. It is a very powerful technique and treatments can
both reduce the amount of fat and restore thickness in specific areas.
Mesotherapy is also capable of tightening and toning the skin and
reducing wrinkles. Mesotherapy can be performed by isophoresis which is
the latest and painless technique adopted by SkinGenesis.
