Laser skin resurfacing offers several advantages over other skin resurfacing methods. It is more precise, it causes virtually no bleeding, and post-operative discomfort is minimal. It is far less invasive than a surgical facelift and can still remove wrinkles and lines. Intense pulsed light therapy (IPL) can be used in conjunction with the normal laser to reduce scarring such as that caused by acne or chicken pox.
Recovery from laser skin treatments is usually straightforward with minimal discomfort. Far less time off work is necessary compared to a surgical facelift. There is a period of healing, during which time the routine for aftercare is very important, but when the new skin emerges it contains fewer wrinkles and is smoother, tighter and much younger looking.
Laser skin treatments are particularly successful for removing the ‘lipstick creases’ on the top lip and the fine lines around the eyes and corners of the mouth. The laser can be precisely controlled so that only these specific areas are targeted.
