Chest x-ray

Chest x-ray

Chest X-rays are useful in detecting an enlarged heart; but especially in diagnosing lung conditions - such as chronic bronchitis and emphysema, lung tumours, lung infections and fluid in the lung, collapsed lung, etc.

Blood glucose levels should be measured as a matter of course in all patients over 75.

Underlying Diseases/Conditions

A chest X-ray should be performed in those patients with heart disease, lung disease or a malignancy.

Current Drugs Use

Those patients on radiation therapy or who smoke should have a chest X-ray performed.
