Treatments to tackle the signs of aging

anti-ageing skincare

The Private Clinic describes different anti-ageing treatments.

When you reach your thirties, your skin will start to show signs of ageing  fine lines and small wrinkles will become more apparent and your skin will begin to loose the firmness and elasticity that it once had when you were in your twenties.

Every person is different however and various skins will develop at their own rates. Environmental factors, such as lifestyle, age and genes all play a large part in how your skin ages. The main conditions of ageing include:

  • Loosing volume and fat in the face
  • Developing fine lines and wrinkles
  • Enlarged pores
  • Facial spider veins
  • Skin pigmentation and discoloration occurs from excess sun exposure over time

Thanks to more recent technological advancements, we are now able to combat the signs of ageing with a range of non-invasive cosmetic procedures and there is a wide range of options available.

Below is a selection of some of the anti-aging treatments that are currently on offer at The Private Clinic:

Laser Skin Resurfacing

The Pearl Laser Skin Resurfacing treatment is the latest generation of skin resurfacing technology. It is the most effective laser skin treatment to tackle lines, wrinkles, sun-damage and uneven skin tone without the lengthy downtime associated with traditional Erbium and C02 laser procedures.

Laser technology has advanced significantly over the past few years making laser treatments safer and far more effective. Also in recent years the development of lasers has now allowed us to treat Asian and darker types of skin successfully, something that older technologies prevented us from doing. It is important to consult a laser specialist who is up-to-date on the latest developments in this field and only seek out clinics that invest in state of the art technologies before committing to any treatment.

Microdermabrasion

The Medical Microdermabrasion treatment involves a jet of micro crystals, which are vacuumed with a hand piece across the topmost surface of the skin. The jet removes the top layer of dead and damaged cells revealing fresher, younger looking skin. The treatment works for all skin types and can be used effectively to improve the appearance of brown spots, shallow acne scars, sun-damaged skin, dull or ageing skin, acne-prone or blotchy skin and fine lines.

Chemical Peels

A Chemical Peel is an intense exfoliating process, which uses chemical products to remove dead cells on the surface of the skin.

To begin with your skin is thoroughly cleansed and then the chemical solution is carefully applied. The solution will be left on the skin for a few minutes and then removed. The result of the chemical peel is softer, healthier skin. The appearance of acne scars ais reduced and wrinkles are noticeably smoother.

Botox

Botox is Allergan’s trade-name for the protein and neurotoxin, Botolinum Toxin. The protein is used cosmetically as a muscle relaxing injection for the treatment of wrinkles.

During a procedure, very small amounts of Botulinum Toxin are injected into target areas using a tiny needle. The Toxin blocks the impulse from the nerve to the facial muscles, reducing the contractions that cause wrinkles. Following the treatment the skin over the muscles looks smooth and even.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are used to reduce facial lines and wrinkles and to restore plumpness to the lips and cheeks. This skin treatment takes no time at all and the results are instant – you can even put your make-up on immediately afterwards and head straight back to work!

During the procedure small amounts of dermal fillers are injected directly into the skin using an ultrafine needle. The gel helps to plump up the skin, thereby smoothing out lines and wrinkles. If the lips or facial contours are being treated, the filler adds volume, restores shape and gives a fuller appearance. Here at The Private Clinic our policy is ‘less is more’ so we will always aim to give you a natural, subtle look.

With such an extensive list of solutions, it is important that you choose the right treatment for you. It is vital to contact a physician who is highly experienced in a range of anti-ageing procedures, as they will be able to advise you on the best possible treatment plan available to ensure that you reach your desired results
