The report includes information about gender and age of visitors to health and medical sites, search engine use, the most visited health information sites, the health and medical sector’s share of all web activity and the most visited private hospital and health insurance company sites.

Three of the top twenty most visited UK web sites in the Health and Medical sector relate to obesity, weight loss and dieting.
Three search terms related to BMI (body mass index) are in the top ten most commonly searched terms in the health sector.
NHS Choices is the most visited site in the Health and Medical sector in the UK, followed by Boots, and WeightWatchers.
The report also reveals that the specific phrases “arthritis”, “autism” and “blood pressure” were the top three most common disease/medical conditions searched for.
Women make up the majority (nearly fifty five per cent) of people who use the internet to research health and medical issues with the over 45s making up 44% of total web users looking for health and medical information on the web.
Private Healthcare UK holds a strong position in the healthcare web sector, and continues to grow its market share in the health and medical market.
